KAL Colors of Iceland – Briochet st – augmentation

The Essential Guide to the Brioche Stitch.

Yesterday I posted the basic sts of brioche st. Today I will talk about increase. This stitch that I propose here are the increase that I used in Vegvisir and Bláa Lónið Sweater patterns. There are other increases, you will find the majority in the book of Nancy Merchant: Knitting Brioche: The Essential Guide to the Brioche Stitch.

Br-Augm. / Brkyobrk

You can see the increase as a double increase into one st (kyok : k1, yo, k1 into the same st).

brkyobrkWork the 2 first steps of the”Yf sl1yo, brk” but you don’t drop the st from the needle.

brkyobrk_1Work a yo

Faites un jeté

brkyobrk_2Knit the sts (you now have 3 sts from the brk st). Work as established to end of the row/rd.

brkyobrk_3On the next row, work the sts as established to the 3 sts.

brkyobrk_4Slip purlwise the first st as the “Yf sl1yo”

brkyobrk_5Knit the next st (if you work flat), purl the next st (if you work in round)

brkyobrk_6Slip purlwise the last st as a “Yf sl1yo”
